Pro Se and Pre-Suit Mediation: An Alternative to Litigation

Pro Se and Pre-Suit Mediation: A Practical Alternative to Litigation

Not all disputes require the services of an attorney or formal court intervention. In many cases, individuals can resolve matters through mediation before a lawsuit is ever filed, or even without legal representation.

Pro Se Mediation refers to situations where one or both parties participate without the assistance of an attorney. This is common in cases involving silver divorce, small construction disputes, or family disagreements where both sides are motivated to resolve the matter cooperatively. Mediation creates a neutral space for open conversation, supported by a structured process.

Pre-Suit Mediation occurs before a lawsuit is filed. It allows parties to explore resolution without initiating formal litigation, often saving time, legal fees, and emotional strain. Courts in Florida frequently encourage or require mediation once a lawsuit has been filed, but parties also have the option to initiate mediation on their own terms at an earlier stage.

I offer mediation services for both Pro Se and Pre-Suit clients throughout Florida, conducted in person or via Zoom. If you’re unsure whether mediation is the right choice for your situation, I invite you to schedule an introductory call to discuss the best path forward.
