What Is Mediation? A Guide to Resolving Disputes Without Court
Understanding the Basics of a Structured, Confidential Resolution Process
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) that allows individuals, families, or business partners to settle disputes outside of the courtroom. The process is guided by a neutral third party, the mediator, whose role is not to make decisions but to facilitate communication, clarify key issues, and help parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
Unlike litigation, mediation is a voluntary, confidential, and non-adversarial process. The parties involved retain control over the outcome, and the process is tailored to encourage productive dialogue rather than legal confrontation.
As a Florida Supreme Court-certified Civil and Family Mediator, I work with both represented and Pro Se clients across a range of matters, including elder care and real estate disputes, as well as divorce and construction cases. Mediation provides a structured environment that allows you to move forward with clarity, privacy, and respect.
